Hailing from Calabasas, California, David Oppenheim began playing poker while he was at college. After becoming obsessed with the game, he turned it into a career and has been playing professionally for the last 15 years. Over that span, Oppenheim has developed into one of the most well known cash game players in the world and can often be found in the highest stakes games both live and online.

Last night, Chris Moneymaker and David Oppenheim became the 57th and 58th inductees of the Poker Hall of Fame during the World Series of Poker Main Event coverage on ESPN. They were voted into the 2019 Poker Hall of Fame Class by the thirty living Poker Hall of Fame members and a 21-person media panel. David Oppenheim Doubles Thru Phil Ivey L.A. In an interview with Card Player, David had the following piece of advice for aspiring cash game players: “To be a really good cash-game player, you need lots of experience. The best way to put it is that inexperienced players are not very seasoned. Emotionally, they get upset when things go wrong and they do not play the same way they were playing when they first arrived. They need to learn to play their best at all times, even when the cards are going against them.”
