WPTDeepStacks makes a great first impression
WPTDeepStacks first made an appearance at Rivers Casino in October 2018. During the Main Event, WPT crushed its guarantee and reached a prize pool of more than $415,000.
Dustin Foster won $84,366 for his first-place finish, which was one of his biggest wins ever. Foster described the final table as a “roller coaster,” but he went on to say that Pittsburgh is a “beautiful city and (he) had a great time.”
Poker pro Matt Glantz said it was “the biggest prize pool in Pittsburgh history.” So, it’s no surprise WPT added the two stops this year.
As it happens, the Pennsylvania area has become a hotbed of poker and casino gambling activity in recent years. According to a 2018 American Gaming Association report, gross revenue at Pennsylvania’s casinos ranked second in the nation, only behind Nevada. With the legalization of casino sports betting and the approval of upcoming online poker in Pennsylvania, those numbers should continue to grow.
Rivers Casino is an ideal host
Currently, Rivers Casino’s poker room is 8,457 square feet, with 30 live cash tables and 24-hour food options.
Glantz credits part of the casino’s success due to the “great location.” Rivers sits conveniently near Pittsburgh’s sporting arenas.
